it's Magic;
Free drinking water at all times will benefit about 120,000 patients and ensure more hygienic medical procedures. Even the people living near the hospital benefit from a better environment

Before the provision by Lien Aid of clean water to patients and staff with clean water, my department had limited access to water in the hospital. The staff nurses had to go to a central kitchen with flasks and containers to bring boiled water to our patients.

Because transporting water was so tedious and the water supply not available round the clock, the work of the nurses would also get affected.

In transporting water to our patients, we faced another problem: the water was open to contamination as it was put in not completely sterile cracked containers. To us, it is more important to ensure that all our patients have water to drink.

After receiving the filter-and-purification system from Lien Aid, we finally stopped worrying about the cleanliness of the water and we can now be sure that the water is perfectly safe to use for drinking and cooking.

What relieves me is the fact that there is no longer any limitation to the amount of clean water we can access since the system built by Lien Aid is able to provide clean drinking water for us to use at any time.

We treat in patients who come from every part of the country, especially from the rural provinces surrounding Hanoi as the NHP is the only hospital in the area that is best known in terms of staff and equipment. More than 80 percent of our patients are under the age of 6. The children suffer from a wide range of illnesses, some of the most common ones being related to mental development, kidney problems and those requiring surgery.

Family members - usually low-income families earning from farming and odd jobs - are affected too since not only do they have the worry about their suffering children but also have to bear the burden of the hospital bill.

If more could be done, I would like more capital to be invested in the local hospitals and in alerting villagers of the potential harm of using untreated water. We hope to see in the future a better welfare system in place for these areas as our
youth represents the main hope for a better future.
